Business class to India/China

When you travel to India/China or other SE Asia for visiting friends and family, do you use business class for your family ? I start with myself: I use business class Chicago-Mumbai and costs ~9k for 3 tickets..me, my wife and a kid (4 years old). It is strech with my TC (110k) but it makes long haul flying easier.

Not worth it at your TC. Are you insane? I always fly J on long haul but it doesn't affect me financially.

I am options trader on side and make money 💰 on the fly when needed :)

That's cool. But until you break 600k (at least) don't you think the money is better spent on investments?

Ok with that tc, having a kid is a luxury. Business class is a financial disaster

Minnesota is dirt cheap compared to Bay Area or Seattle. My 4 bedroom house cost 1300 for monthly mortgage

Microsoft Beepbopyip Nov 30, 2019

So basically your are spending 7 months of your mortgage on a single flight? How is that not a financial disaster? I have flown business before, its just NOT worth thrice the price.. If you are 6'2 or above, premium economy, else economy is good enough unless you want to impress your uncles and aunties in bombay.

As long as my knees and legs are in good condition i would never do that.

You make $110k and you fly your family business class? This is insane. Maybe you already paid off your house and don't have much debt

Medtronic itisfriday OP Nov 30, 2019

Right...no student loans, car loans paid off and public schools are paid by property taxes. Excellent health with regular workouts and no doctors regular visit for chronic conditions.

OP: did you forget to mention your wife’s TC which is 500k ?😂

Medtronic itisfriday OP Nov 30, 2019

Yikes. Make her LC!

Facebook Dequhs Nov 30, 2019

Tell me, would you spend 3k at home so that you can sit on a more comfortable chair for 14 hours? Would you pay $500 for a cinema ticket for a more comfortable chair?

Medtronic itisfriday OP Nov 30, 2019

I agree with you logic but then I see people buying more than 1-2 mil homes in Bay Area or Seattle. Is that where all the money is going ?

Facebook Dequhs Nov 30, 2019

Yeah. They're hoping their kids can sell the houses from 10 million 20 years later

Facebook RealZuck Nov 30, 2019

You're spending roughly 10% of your income on first class tickets. That seems like an obvious mistake.
