Im talking to a recruiter about a senior eng position on the business team (role says “services engineer” which is a bit unclear). Wondering how working at github eng, and in particular business team is. Id be located in EMEA. Thanks!
Love working at GitHub! Day to day is a little different from team to team, but overall work/life balance is very good and the company knows how to do remote work well. The time zone thing can be a bummer for some all-hands types meetings and for finding good times to do 1:1s etc, but people manage and all big company meetings are broadcasted live and recorded for later. Can't talk much about the business team though, I'm not very familiar
The Business team at GitHub are the engineers who work on GitHub Enterprise and GitHub For Business. There are about two dozen engineers on the team. A “Services Engineer” is an engineer who works on backend services. Day to day work involves a combination of development and system engineering. The Business team is all remote (no engineers working in HQ). A bit under 50% of them are in EU. Most of the rest are in North America.
Thanks that’s really helpful!
I dont know about eng but my roommate is in GitHub sales. Work life balance sounds amazing and they have tons of benefits.
