Buy the Dip data manipulation?

You’ve probably seen the buy the dip chart that shows if Bob had invested weekly from 1980 he’d have multi million dollar gains. That is true but…. 1) did you ever ask why that data strategically starts from 1980? That’s peak boomer wealth starting era. They conveniently don’t show anything from the greatest or silent generations working life 1930-1970s cause for them the stock market was hell and returned poorly. 2) the boomer working era 1980-2020 coincided with an extreme wealth creation process for America where if you invested in a bunch of pots and pans let alone stocks you’d still make some money. That same wealth generation doesn’t exist for millennials and Gen z. Stop looking at 1980-2000 charts and thinking those peak capitalism years are coming back to the 2020s. That was a very special moment in history and the macros and geopolitical balances no longer point to some utopian end of history nonsense led by America behind which the stock market grew exceptionally 3) tech was the one exception to above. But high interest rates destroy that value prop. We will have interest rates high for the rest of this decade. And does anyone actually think the golden days of tech are coming back if Google, Amazon etc continue being monopolies? SF in the early 2010s was churning one hot startup idea after another every week once. Now there is very little innovation led by startups. What small company can hope to become an Amazon or Google today? It’s so depressing that there is no path anymore since the behemoths have so much power. To conclude be very careful on buying the dip nonsense which has been manipulated by some shills on Reddit. There are real life examples of Japan and Germany which show that stock returns are not guaranteed even if the country otherwise is doing okay.

Same with gold. They never show the Nixon reset.

You got a point Makes me think if this is really true - time in market is better than timing Not that you can find out the timing 😅 Lost (on paper ) so much , like many of you over here .. True . No returns are Guranteed
