Buying SFH in Kirkland/Redmond area

Is it a good idea to buy a new SFH in Kirkland or Redmond or Bellevue area for 2 mil (or less if we get it) to move closer to our offices given you have a house in outskirts of Seattle? We will need to sell our current SFH w/ around ~400k gain. HH income: ~675k Edit: we are in our early 30s. Stocks +savings ~1mil (excluding 401k) Note: Joined Nvidia recently so couldn’t benefit from the stock growth 😃 #housing #mortgage

Why not? But good luck getting a decent place under 2 mil right now

that’s another concern we have - fingers crossed, not in rush to buy though

How big of a home? Sounds like a no brainer

NVIDIA DkSN62 OP Feb 12

Anything > 2500 sq ft.

ByteDance badddd Feb 12

Oh totally do it. There’s a few properties in Kirkland proper right now that I think will be very popular in that range for 2M. I think you’ll see quite a bit of competition for 2M + 2500 range ;)

Yeah

We have solid WFH policy, so I wouldn't move for proximity to the office alone.

NVIDIA DkSN62 OP Feb 12

yes that’s true but my wife works in Bellevue and she needs to drive 3-4 days a week. and also getting LWSD!

What’s the expected price range for a 3000+ 5b 3b home in Kirkland area ? We are exploring but the new homes are 2.5M+.. open to 10-12 year old homes.

NVIDIA DkSN62 OP Feb 13

All the 5b we found are more than 2.5mil too - we are willing to go with 4 bd and a den/office space type of layout.

In the same boat. Bellevue downtown has so many office spaces being built and trains are going to make it easier for big companies to move their bases to Bellevue than dealing with Seattle woke-shit / Hate crimes / head tax.
