You look to be taking a pay cut. Is that 160k your base or TC?

Why are you taking a cut? Or is the new TC more with the 15% bonus?

Seems not great unless you really like the company

Hi there, I work at CVS Health / Aetna. The offer elements sound about right in terms of what’s included. It’s not a tech company so they have a more traditional comp structure. That said for a lead role I would counter the base at minimum. Push for $160 or so at least but if you have other offers in the works leverage those too. I am a P3 (level below lead) and I negotiated $145K base starting and they tacked on a $5,000 signing bonus. Also fully remote. Something else to consider is that Aetna is driven by the open enrollment cycles for whatever product line you’re on. There are long lead times for delivery typically and plenty of project planning goes into it. I have yet to work a single week over 45 hrs and I still secured exceeds expectations in my first year. It’s a chill company with pretty good pay and very remote friendly. It’s fortune 5 so you get some of the prestige although not as much as FAANG, and we’re moving heavily into innovative tech as a company.

Well shit, maybe I should move. I’m Fortune 10, but our products are shit and no one recognizes who we are/what we do. The design org here is VERY amateur.

@vMFI18 - everyone recognizes CVS but not everyone recognizes Aetna. In the insurance space we’re still differentiating from a brand perspective since the acquisition of Aetna was so recent, but the future is bright here. Large healthcare companies in general also benefit from the fact that the industry is highly regulated. The barrier to entry is high so the competition is mostly well known. In general I’m very happy with CVS as a company. People may say they’re evil because insurance but I sit on a lot of cross functional presentations and the people working here do really cool shit to make life better for the average person.
