Lucky to have recently received New Grad SWE offers from Databricks (San Francisco) and Citadel Securities (New York). At the moment, my top priorities are compensation, compensation growth, career growth and prestige for future applications. I’m unsure how to compare compensation because Databricks RSUs can be worth a lot more than current value if the company’s valuation increases pre/post IPO. If anyone has any insight, please reply or DM! Databricks Offer (San Francisco): Base: 130k Yearly Bonus: 10% of salary (13k) RSUs: 1170 shares/4 years (~$220 per share current valuation, total: $257k) Signing Bonus: 15k TC: 222 (1st Year), 207 (Recurring) (assuming no stock growth) Citadel Securities Offer (NYC) Base: 175k Yearly Bonus: 100k Signing Bonus: 100k TC: 375 (1st Year), 275 (Recurring) #swe #citadelsecurities #databricks #newgrad #newgradsalary #tech
If it were close I'd say databricks but that's a huge tc difference
Nyc >> SF
Take citadel and say bye bye to free time!
His top priorities don’t include WLB 😎
That’s what they all say before their mind breaks down
Easy choice, citadel
Databricks, lol, why this is even a question? Take citadel’s offer to databricks and try to negotiate as best as you can, then take databricks.
100% this. Databricks is going to be successful IPO the product sells itself
Isn’t this the same post? https://us.teamblind.com/s/5PD5hgwc
🤔
If you’re looking for upside, the Total Addressable Markets for each respective company is? I don’t know Citadel, or it’s respective market, but do know the Data & AI Market, and it’s massive. At Databricks, there’s room for growth. As far as upside in ~$220 FMV and beyond, it’s speculative and BS to comment on. Net, there’s big upside at Databricks and the market we operate in.
OP can just buy our stock once we IPO
For a new grad you should think about where you can learn more, gain experience on building distributed system in real world and not focus solely on comp.
I don’t think we have much room to grow before IPO. Once we IPO, just buy our stock using additional cash from Citadel if you think we have long term potential.
While true, people who joined just a few months before IPO in places like Snowflake and Coinbase straight printed money. It may not be enough to offset 375k but you never know.
Do you know when the IPO will be? End of next year?
