A little over a week ago I wrote a post about my struggles with cocaine. https://us.teamblind.com/s/NB4W0tgF With the support and suggestions I received I finally summoned the strength to make a stab at it. The last time I used cocaine was Saturday, July 1st. Cocaine down the toilet (goodbye to about $160 of premo shit), dealer's info erased from my phone (made sure to clean out Venmo and Zelle this time), and a serious conversation with my wife asking for her support (she is being very supportive.) It was good timing as I had a 4 day weekend due to the 4th of July. Whoo boy did I need the extra days to adjust... After about 3 months of using about a gram a day every single day quitting hit me like a train. A sleepy train. So Sunday, Monday, and (especially) Tuesday I basically just slept. I would get up twice a day to eat and walk the dog, but as soon as I was done it was back to bed. The fatigue I felt was kind of scary to be honest. It felt like "shit, I can either relapse and feel normal or feel tired _forever_"... But luckily by Wednesday I was able to.. kind of.. do my job. It's days like this last Wednesday that make me infinitely thankful that I am blessed to work remotely. Thursday was a little better still and then finally Friday I felt like I actually got an honest productive day's work done. I hope that I might be through the worst of it. So really, THANK YOU to the Blind community. The unexpected huge number of responses I received, some helpful, some hurtful, and many stark reality checks, were the final straws that pushed me to start this change. Here's hoping I'll make it to two weeks. 🤞 #mentalhealth #addiction
Good job bro!
Congratulations, OP! I would consult with a substance abuse specialist to make sure that you’re able to wean yourself off without suffering from any symptoms as a result of withdrawal. I would also try and see if you can look into Narcan or any other drugs to help you cope with withdrawal. Beyond that, the best thing I’ve found to help is habit substitution. By putting in the same effort into a hobby such as painting and gardening, you’ll be able to focus less on the presence of the drug. Good luck! TC: Redacted out of respect for OP 🫡
Congratulations! More power to you!
Congratulations! I hope I am able to wean off of my own SM addiction.
Proud of you OP, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the update and for taking care of yourself and your family. Keep strong, you got this!
I’m so proud of you, Hunter!
Wow! Blind saves lives - who would have thought? Congratulations OP!
Good job, keep it up
