I am a PM @Google with ~15 years experience currently and love my job. My other passion is portfolio/investment management and see myself as being able to help educate and help others achieve their financial goals. I find our education severely lacking in providing this crucial life skill. I came across the CFA charter course @cfainstitute.org providing the necessary curriculum and credibility to be taken seriously. I may also want to start my own fund later.A lot of fund managers I respect also seem to be CFA charter holders. I have the following questions: 1. Considering my goals of learning, credibility and starting my own fund, will the CFA charter help achieve those goals? 2. CFA also has a relevant work experience requirement. Is it viable to do internal transfers with my current employer to meet that requirement? 3. Are there any CFA charter holders at other companies who have done this? Please share your experiences.
