Visited Chase Mathilda branch today to check my safe deposit box. I was surprised to find my box broken and all valuables missing. The branch manager told me that the box number I was using does not match with the number listed in my chase account, hence the audit team broke the locker and deposited the valuables in their national vault. Then they told me that they have initiated the request to get the valuables back and i’ll be called back in approx 2 weeks time to verify my items. And I will get those *If my list matches with their list*. What stupid nonsense is Chase bank doing. Robbing people in broad daylight. Right now, i have no proof of this story in written with me and i don’t know if my valuables are safe with the bank. What will happen if i’m not able to list all the items from the safe box? (I will check with attorney through my employer legal plan tomorrow). - please check your lockers asap #tech and save pics of stuff in it. #chase

They cant legally do this. Its a felony in the instance it exceeds your states theft or larceny law limitations which it likely will given you kept it in your SDB. File a complaint, and send a formal demand letter. They dont get to just "take whatever, whenever" just because they are the custodian, and they definitely dont get to dictate terms of when your assets are returned to you. Contact your local PD/sheriff, file a report, and send a formal demand certified mail demanding the return of your assets, or youll file criminal charges against the persons responsible/involved.
He is highly unlikely to be able to press criminal charges while working for LinkedIn. That’s pretty basic stuff, so I’d be worried about how useful the rest of your advice is.

Calm down (for now) - they will have a record what is removed from any box and once you verify enough it ought to all be returned. Banking is like sometimes shipping last minute code that has unintended implications, but it is people’s stuff. Which is to say - it likely isn’t any of the people you are speaking to that screwed up, so try and behave in a similar way. Audit have to keep very specific records for such an action else they will be in an awful spot. I wouldn’t disregard the above recommendation to report it though as this seems to be very much an error on the part of the trustee.

I had a locker with chase until last year. Sometime around July, received a letter to empty the safe by December else it will be opened and all things will be documented/stored. Upon checking, looks like chase will exit locker business.
