I just paid $537 for couple filing to H&R Block
Even when doing it by yourself, you are still technically paying for the software via turbo tax, HR Block etc.
You can print the PDFs, fill them out, and send them to the IRS. No tax software needed.
I paid free dollars to use Cash App Taxes

“not sure if they did it right” this part worries me too. Expecting IRS audit sometime in the future and prepping what I’ll say “I was just clicking the next button”

What's wrong with doing it on cash app tax (previously credit karma tax) for free? With the exception of a few edge cases, they mostly cover everything.

I trade plenty of stock and crypto and own property. What's missing that they don't account for? Or are people just not caught up with what's offered in the tax filing world?

How did y’all deduct mortgage interest ?- since 1098 has entire interest paid (regardless of principal) and we can deduct only on $750K principal.
A good CPA is valuable. Blinders are often penny-wise and pound-foolish.
Agreed, I pay $750+ for peace of mind.
For trivial returns (salary, stock trading, house), it’s a waste of money.
$0. "Free fillable forms" is the way to go. It'll teach you a lot about taxes.
