I’m expecting an offer from Snap L5 soon and am curious how people value their levels now. I was initially surprised to see their mapping of L4 ~= senior and L5 ~= staff on levels fyi. Then I went through comments saying that they re-leveled a while back (when was this?) Now the sentiment seems like L5 ~= 5.5 elsewhere, or typical 5 with higher pay band. Thoughts? Related to this, how could I approach negotiation with others especially on the level? I've been a senior for ~4 years and ideally want to up level. (Still interviewing very few staff roles) Some potentials I have: - Tiktok 2-2 - Doordash 5 I’m also in talk with Snowflake but not sure if they don't hire IC4. Appreciate any insights or suggestions TC 550k #engineering #swe #snap #snowflake #staff #offer
Microsoft levels also got increased a lot in last 6 months
Nice total compensation dude!
What’s your total yoe?
7 yoe
Was this for a Staff MLE position? I've an upcoming L5 MLE loop in 3 weeks, so curious how was the overall difficulty in Coding and ML Design?
The bands are pretty wide at Snap. L5 = 5.5 is accurate. The pay is usually top of the market
L5 is definitely not staff. We just changed the names and explicitly called that out. This pissed a lot of L5s off (justifiably). Expect more employee hostile changes if you join.
Just make sure you know there's a *quarterly* perf review here
I think doordash pays L-1. So I saw staff at doordash getting paid 450-550 which is senior pay elsewhere.
Yes, all of those low margins business, Doordash, Uber, Amazon are paying L-1. They pretty much rely on stock growth to compensate people.
Not Amazon. They have changed ranges drastically to match meta since 2022
