I graduated with a CS degree <6 months ago but wasn't adequately prepared for a career in tech so I accepted an offer from Amazon Fulfillment as an Area Manager in one of their warehouses, which is slated to begin in Q3. I recently completed a bootcamp, re-learned fundamentals, and have LC. I also talked with an incoming Amazon SWE who is willing to refer me but I can't take the financial risk of having my Area Manager offer rescinded because I'm applying to other roles. I planned on asking my recruiter about whether this is allowed but I don't want my current offer rescinded just because I asked... is there chance that happens? tldr - is there a chance Amazon rescinds my Area Manager offer if I ask my recruiter to apply for a SWE role?
As far as i know you can switch roles after your 1st day. As an idea and just an idea, i would say your worth as an SWE would be heightened if you had some Ops experience under your belt before making the switch.
