Applying for Schengen visa(Indian citizen on H1B) from France VFS for the first time. Will I be able to change my travel plans after the visa is granted. The travel plan(travel months specifically) might differ from the other itinerary submitted during the interview
Someone recently posted on FB that their visa was canceled because they changed their port/country of entry after getting visa but some peeps replied they didn’t face any issue, so 🤷♂️
Not changing the country of entry just the dates. Also..how long is the visa granted for?
Op, you'll be fine. Sometimes countries get pissed off if you get their visa to enter other country. But it's rare. If your FIRST entry is the country which gave you visa, you should be fine.
Isn’t schengen visa valid only for your days of entry? That is if you show the itinerary, then they will give you visa only for those days. So i am not sure if you can change from September to December.
Is it for the exact dates we mention in the itinerary? I thought it is for a certain amount of time and for multiple entries
I assumed it is for exact dates. When is your interview?
As long as your first point of entry to the EU for your first trip on the visa is France, you should be good In other words, if you get the visa from France, go to France first, and then you're free to go anywhere, or go back to any non-EU country and back into the EU through any point of entry
this
Changing the itinerary also obviously depends on the length of the visa granted. In my experience (I'm not Indian though) it can be granted for either the length of the trip, or up to 90 days, and the only factor here is luck and how much the visa issuing officers trust you.
I’ve gotten it in the past for the EXACT dates mentioned on my itinerary including entry and exit (not first time visiting there either). You likely wont be able to change the dates as wide as September from December. But a colleague traveling along got it for a month, still effective start date as mentioned in itinerary. It’s pretty subjective.
I am an Indian on work visa in USA. I got it for 3 months
Your visa might be for specific dates. You may not be about to change months.
The correct answer is yes unless it is specified on the terms of your visa which date you must enter and exit. Any port and date within the allowed range is acceptable
How many days did the consulate take to process your visa?
For People on H1B, what should be filled as the residence permit number on the Schengen application?
Yes
So if I travel in December to France instead of September it should be fine? Also..how long is the visa granted for?
Generally duration of the trip plus few days .
