Imagine you build a gas station. After it is built, you just need one or two people at the same time to maintain it. We see what happened in twitter. You can just fire 70% of engineers and just key the rest to maintain it. Then it is profitable. No new features but profitable. This pattern looks good to me. I wonder why it has not been widely applied. Maybe Pinterest, Lyft, Snapchat can follow twitter? Stop growth but actually make some money?
If they had too many too begin with
Is twitter profitable though??
It seems profitable now.
It was not losing a lot back anyway
This inhibits innovation and trades the long term health + dominance of a company for short term profits
Most big tech stopped innovating a while ago. Square may be ok though, I like what you guys are doing.
What innovation are you smoking dude
Exactly, as interest rate grows, many healthy bonds will hit 7%.
Some just sell the company and buy bonds
Compass is the only one doing this and the only one it makes sense for
The Zillow?
Lol 1B. Looks like 🤡
No Twitter is not profitable and is worth 60% less than what Elon paid. Fidelity wrote their investment off 60%.
Thank you for your comment
So Elon is 🤡
I am stopping growth by being on blind
https://youtu.be/BzAdXyPYKQo Same argument applies to profits. The goal of the company is to make money, but for the investors. Some of the valuations of these companies are so ratcheted up on growth projections that getting profitable at the cost of topline growth would actually tank the stock and lose the investors money, because it removes the possibility of 10x growth that is built in the current stock price.
Hiring bar at Rippling
Is very low. I hear they pip 20% so maybe that’s why
It’s actually low key pretty high. It has changed dramatically in the last ~8 or so months. Although OP is making me look bad
