Can companies just follow Twitter and fire almost all engineers?
Imagine you build a gas station. After it is built, you just need one or two people at the same time to maintain it. We see what happened in twitter. You can just fire 70% of engineers and just key the rest to maintain it. Then it is profitable. No new features but profitable. This pattern looks good to me. I wonder why it has not been widely applied. Maybe Pinterest, Lyft, Snapchat can follow twitter? Stop growth but actually make some money?

i wasn't born that long ago to know whoever that was bro, i'm guessing from a quick search, that dude was calling shots when GE was a conglomerate? only thing i know of is we make jet engines for different applications, and research self healing materials, 3d print parts for folks like spacex and NASA i'll be gone in march and joining nvidia next shtty WLB at new company but a lot of RSUs
