OK so I've been interviewing, and started interviewing for this one company for practice, because I don't really care about working there. Their take home assignment was really strange for my role. I had no idea how to do it, so i posted on stack, and i changed the wordings a lot, also not as complete (b/c i just wanted to learn how to do this problem, figured it's interesting to know; im just curious how this could be done, purely for personal growth/learning purpose). I have no intention of working there. But I turned in anyways, because what better way to get feedback on my work right? I accidentally included my stack question link in my file I sent to them, because it was my draft work file. the HM was furious that I asked the question online and asked me to take down the question immediately and then notify him. He also said we are done zo. "we will not move forward with you" he angrily types. Fair enough, and not big deal to me anyways. OK, well I didn't sign any NDA, also it wasn't clear that I cannot use online help? My question is, can the HM force me to take down the question? What if I don't? Will I be in trouble? -- update w more info -- I am also concerned if I ignore his email I'll burn this bridge harrrd. Even though I feel like I kinda already burnt the bridge. oh well. More questions: Should I respond to his email? If so, what should I say? --more updates-- i didn't mention, in my original post, that he was extremely rude in his email, degrading me to no end. like he was on a pedestal and looking down on a peasant who is worthless and stupid. his unnecessary arrogance and that humiliation really upset me quite a bit. hence why i also don't want to just "take his order" or "do as he wish". since bridge is already burnt, i suppose there's no more bridge to save. i've decided to ignore his email. let's see what happens days later, if he's gonna send me more emails. i'll keep you entertained if anything happens #interview
Sounds like a dick, I would keep it up
I don’t think you did anything illegal here. Don’t be bullied. You don’t want to work for someone like this anyway. Dodged a bullet.
LOLLLL also i kinda dont wanna burn any bridge but i guess i already did.
How can you burn a bridge that never existed ???
Please keep the post there. That will teach them a lesson. Their office authority doesn't extend to the real world.
Why do you want to leave apple?
interviewing helps me learn
Yeah definitely agree with that, so are you just doing it to keep yourself on your game? Do you love apple? What’s best/worst part?
Regardless of the legality of it, it's unethical.
Some teams work hard to come up with relevant questions. Posting it effectively burns the question. Not seeking outside help from other people is generally understood in interviewing. It's not like you'd bring in a friend to help during onsite just because they didn't explicitly say you couldn't.
i made sure the question looks sooo different that they wont be searched even if another candidate wants to. like i said, this was for personal learning. i dont think i've jeopardized their interview process? but i see your point, if i did post the exact quesiton, that'd be no good.
Cost you nothing to take it down. If you already got your learning there's nothing else to gain.
Please post the question here.
No NDA.. He can fuck off.. By the way, hope you did not sign any document when you went into their building.
no this is before technical phone call/onsite lol so nothing was signed
Definitely keep it up
I think they can
can you expand on that??
