Can i list a suspended android game that reached 1 million installs in my resume for a google internship application?

when i was 16/17 years old i was publishing some games in Play store, a lot of them reached 100k installs, one did reach 1 million, all of them were eventually suspended because of violation of google policies, the development of the game required basic java/eclipse/Android Studio knowledge. Another question should i apply wiht an email that violated google policy? (Play Store/Admob) Last question, any idea how can i get a referral for a google europe internship (Germany)? Edit: the app was suspended because of a violation of a brand protection policy #google #internship #europe #germany #tech #career

I think having an app with 1M downloads will definitely count in your favor. If you feel comfortable explaining to your recruiter that the app got suspended and what you learned from this experience, I would to go ahead and mention the app.

Should i mention it was suspended in my resume?

But if those downloads were driven by using someone else’s IP, then not exactly a win. It’s WAY easier getting a game to a high number of downloads using Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, etc IP rather than developing your own branded characters.

OP is very evasive. If I was OP, I’d hide it since it seems like you won’t be able to answer these questions during the interview.

Can you please elaborate on what kind of answers that need to be answered so i won't come up as evasive

I am leaning towards you listing it in your resume. However, it really depends. Was it just a boilerplate app, hitting 1M downloads only due to a brand’s popularity? In that case, if there was nothing innovative - then what would it convey?

Like i mentioned in the post, the app required very basic java knowledge, so nothing extraordinary, the app was most likely popular because of that brand, good ASO, good graphics were also required

I had the same thing happen to me. In my case I made an elo tracker app for the game league of legends which got taken down for misusing the game's branding. What I did was take screenshots of the app, wrote a medium post of my experience building it, and open sourced the project. Spammed that shit on LinkedIn and got hella recruiters when I was internship hunting.

How much did you make off the games?

Is it possible the app got to 1 million downloads due to the brand recognition of the cartoon that you (illegally) used? If so, I'd be very careful about boasting about the number of downloads. However, actually having developed and published multiple games/apps to the Google store, together with your experience with the policies and IP is definitely valuable, IMO.

That's very possible, i am almost certain that one of the biggest reason of its popularity is the similarity with that brand, so yeah that's my concern, it was a good experience but i was not sure if it is a good idea to put it in the resume. Thanks you for your input

I sold this car I found in a neighbor's garage. Should I put it on my resume to show I have good sales skills?
