Srsly, what's the deal with the Reddit app? Why tf is it so bad compared to the website which loads seamlessly? I would use the website version but I don't wanna log in every time I wanna see a video on r/mildlyinteresting... TC = 0 😭
"it's better in the app" lmao
Especially compared to Apollo App on iOS. Makes the official app look like a joke.
Apollo has 10% of the features.
Haters will say those features are useless. Fact of the matter is there’s a huge overlap with users on Blind/in Tech that are just power users of old Reddit that will never care about the new features. They are not our target demographic anymore
Because it's a product that looks like it was built in 1994
Yet, you are using Blind now lol
Shows what you know, I'm on the website
What “sux” and is “so bad” about it?
For starters, it's soo slow to load
Honestly it runs fine to me….
Clearly, you and I have different standards for "fine" I don't mean to be rude... What you said sounds like every manager trying to push back against some team request...
Try 3rd part apps. They are surprisingly better than og app
Is Apollo on Android?
I use infinity nowadays
Both web and mobile version work great for me. Don’t understand what you’re talking about
The app sux The website is fine lol Actually the website is buggy too tbh It keeps on disconnecting and reconnecting while you're chatting
Hmm weird. I don’t have that issue. Maybe a connection issue but idk
Yeah maybe check ur connection my man. Reddit mobile app is fairly quick these days - ask me 6 months ago id have a different answer. Only downside is Ads but yeah

And can someone explain why their management is trying to force the new video player down our throats
What’s the problem with it? Honest question. I know the old player had all sorts of issues and the team is rewriting it.
To preface, I’m not one of those old.reddit or die people, been using new Reddit since it introduced dark mode. On Reddit for 12 years. This is describing usage on iOS through the official Reddit app. My main issue with it is you can’t use it to swipe through content on your feed or a subreddit feed. It uses a different algorithm to populate your queue when you swipe up/down rather than what the order of content when you clicked on the video is. It will also start bringing in content from other subreddits when I was on the specific subreddit page for a reason. On top of that, if you’re trying to swipe through a subreddit that has both video and image content, it makes it a pain. There’s no way to view both with the new player. The workaround is first opening an image post, then you’re able to start swiping left/right through all video and image content on the subreddit with the old player. It’s especially annoying when it’s a subreddit with mostly videos but a few images mixed in, so you have to hunt down the image post to be able to swipe nicely through the combined content in sorted order. There’s other issues with this method like not being able to see albums but it’s the best approach I’ve found.
