Can you leet hard and break into big tech SWE (L4/L5) after a 3 year employment gap?

Have 6 YoE as SWE in medium sized tech co. prior to the 3 year break from employment. Have leeted before and willing to grind. What are the odds of a >$200k offer in an HCOL city after 6 months of Leet and system design practice? P.S. No visa sponsorship necessary, bachelors degree in CS #meta #leetcode #google #nvidia #tesla #apple

Tight market but the bar for SWEs is low in big tech. Don’t let the name brands stand-in for the mediocre growth of these companies over the last 3 years. That growth is more accurate to skill. Not unique to SWE, applies to most roles, PM included

What do you mean by low bar? You mean the bar is higher for non-SWE positions in big tech (e.g., product manager, strategy & ops etc.)?

Just to believe in yourself, because big tech isn’t actually elite, it’s good. Most great coders would choose equity in a growth company (openAI, spaceX, etc) because they know their value and bias to impact. Most folks in big tech are interested in stability and win through influence. I would recommend to do a few interview coaching sessions on platforms like interviews.tech (there are others) to get familiar with it before you interview. There is a formula for each company. Don’t put them on a pedestal. Everyone is there trying to make small incremental gains for decent pay.
