I’m pretty junior and I see some great SWE I roles available on the Microsoft website. I submitted an application, but never heard back from anyone, and no recruiters will answer me on LinkedIn. The requisition is still open and my application is under review. Junior positions are very competitive so not sure how to stand out in the sea of applications. Any tips? (Positions are mostly Azure/Teams) TC: 0 (severance of 10k per month until January)
TC or Stay at Twitter 2.0
Ouch
Thats a harsh punishment even for no TC in post
After I applied, it took me months to get an interview and I was passed through multiple recruiters. If you’re in a hurry this is probably not the best fit.
I’m on teams, dm me and I’ll write you a referral
Your team have any open reqs?
Thanks, DM’d you
Yup our recruiters are terrible in communication. I applied via the portal and got in. Persistence is key if applying off the street with no referral
OP, I'd say that if you do not hear back from Microsoft, don't stress about it. It's not the end of the world. I am going to tell you my own story. I myself applied to Microsoft numerous times before for SDE1/2 positions, never heard back. So I found jobs with other companies. Now I am a L64 at Microsoft (senior engineer), recently hired. What I will tell you here is that now when Microsoft hired me, they paid a premium price to get me (in terms of compensation), which is much higher than what they would pay to a Senior Engineer who rose through the ranks. So in a way, all those rejections worked out well for me. I want to thank all those recruiters who rejected my applications - this way I worked at multiple companies and learnt a lot more than what I would at Microsoft. So just wait for your time, if you're good, you'll eventually land where you're supposed to. The key to landing your dream job is to do well in your current job..
Thanks for these words of wisdom. I don’t have a job though currently. 😅
Just find any job you can. Most of the large firms are not hiring this month, so look for smaller companies and startups. As long as you're learning and moving forward, the name of the company does not matter too much. I'd much rather work with someone who made impact at a smaller firm than someone who did nothing at Google
Microsoft recruiters are the worst. Everyone I know is hired from referrals made directly to the hiring manager.
I applied through the portal and got a job, that being said, the recruiters are known to take months to get back to people, even with referrals
Op, search on LinkedIn for people posting for jobs and ping them
