Read some analysis on seekingalpha about how FB shopping is gonna take out a large chunk of Amazons revenue. I just can't seem to understand how FB is going to succeed in this space. There is a shopping tab in the fb app and the items that are shown to me are ridiculous. I got a recommendation to buy a used bicycle 3 miles away. Is this feature released for everyone or am I seeing the wrong things? Does FB shopping allow you search for items? Does it going to guarantee 1 day shipping etc. Would fb own fulfillment centers? I can't seem to understand. Would like someone in the e-commerce space explain it to me. #facebook #amazon #walmart #ebay #google #target
FB will have the engine in place to do what amazon is doing with 3rd party sales by any seller/shop in the world. I personally hate FB (and deleted my acct) but given how much marketing info they have on users, they might give AMZN a run for their money. Of course, FB will need to staff up on customer service, etc. Good luck beta testing their ebay-wannabe product.
Yeah. It's more like eBay than Amazon and why would I go to FB when I already have eBay. Im trying to understand how shopping would be different on FB. But currently my shopping tab is filled with nonsense. I have a recommendation to buy used high heel shoe from some girl 3 miles away. Lol. I'm guessing that feature is not rolled out to everyone
"Why would I go to Google when I already have Alta Vista?" - boo bees circa 2000
I thought FB shopping was supposed to make it so that businesses could natively sell products on Facebook to users. So in addition to the revenue Facebook gets from selling ads, they’ll also take some cut when the purchase is actually made (since they would integrate payments). This would make the entire process of product discovery through purchase and checkout easier and faster for the customer and business.
Ok. Is this feature released to everyone?.
Who would deliver it to the customers? Fb or the small business? If small business, then how will fb make sure prices are competitive? Amazon puts in billions of dollars to increase site selectivity and prices. These are amazon sold products.
Tldr; battle of platforms with the most users. Looking for new revenues as well as defensive. Implications for international markets and the WeChat model.
Fb has zero chances to succeed here. It’s their Google Plus. Especially competing with Amazon, who has earned the highest level of user trust.
Amz can’t be the only player here
shouldn't this be a standalone app? A confusing to navigate to FB shop

Do you believe that India is slowly moving towards Dictatorship?
C2C is very different from B2C, i thought its going to compete with eBay?
But that feature was already there on FB 4 years ago.
I used that before. I think that’s more like a pet project since there’s less advertisements around that feature.
