congratulations!! but offer looks low that too for Lead role and in california. is this normal range?
California but not a high COL area. It’s a normal mid range for lead role per my recruiter. it looks low for a solid hire though. Shame on me not to push for more. But it’s more than what I previously made, I feel good about it.
i am only trying to help you not to let you down. good luck 👍
What was the online assessment like? Hackerrank?
Yes, It was Code Signal, similar to hackerrank.
Negotiate higher on the base pay. I think they can go up to $200k base for remote hires at the lead level. The mid point is $182k and you can usually negotiate up to 1.1 of the mid point which is $200k.
Unfortunately, already accepted it
Congrats! My OA was also 4 questions, but I was only given 70min.
Congratulations OP. Can you please elaborate case interview on logical reasoning and coding?
It’s more like open ended questions. Ask for clarification and confirm with interviewer. There are some codes to read, understand and refactor with some proposed designs and trade offs. Confirm with the interviewer before starting to code your solution.
Thank you
Congrats OP. I’m so happy for you.
I live in the Houston area working a permanent remote role and make 165k+variable bonus as an SSE....175k + bonus feels low for California standards. Is this considered descent pay for a lcol area in California?
175k is considered a good pay in my area where good housing is only around ~550-600k. It’s around 1 hour driving to Los Angeles and 2 hours driving to San Diego. But that is not even close to 165k in Houston though. And 175k is considered low if you’re in the Bay Area or Los Angeles/San Diego/…
To be fair, my pay is high for Houston standards and my boss did say after I got converted to full time that my salary ask was on the higher end of their band range within the role and there wasn't much room for salary increment unless moved up in role. I did get a small hike and a bonus from last year.
Congrats OP!! May I ask how things were going with your team match, was it like another interview? Thanks!
No more interviews in team match. It’s more like introduction between you and the team. You have the flexibility to choose team/product that you like to work for.
For a remote position, the salary range is lower than if you were based in SF.
Good 1..congrats !!
