Hello all, I have recently made a switch to system validation after 7 years of experience as a product test engineer looking for advise on how to prepare better and which skills to learn for system validation roles... currently learning Python, C# #intel #hardware #career #apple #system #validation
I did system validation at Intel for 4.5 years. Used Python, and a lot of C doing bare metal driver bring up and debug
I was a PTE and then switched to complete software. I would say anything and everything which helps automation!
how long were you in PTE
3 years! Can't say it wasn't a great experience. One hell of a experience! I am so glad I spent so much time with all that grunt work and understanding how all the things really work. Really helps me understand all the things up top.
Any specific questions? Intuitively, it is easy for me to see how these roles are very similar. I made the switch a few years ago. It is basically the same role, with the validation role giving a lot more flexibility when it comes to tool selection and the benefit of a smaller scale. Apply all the concepts of automation, batching, reuse, and data that you learned as a PTE. Ask questions from the system designers the same way you would at your previous role. You have a lot more freedom now — choose scripting language and hardware to make your job easier and your validation solutions better and more efficient. Collect and use data to show to your management why these are the better solutions.
i luv u
Thanks a lot. My problem is that my software knowledge is very limited.. How important are BIOS and UEFI knowledge in system validation?

When was the last time you had to take a piss test for work?
A lot of the skills would be dependent on the company. But your best bets are also to build up your C & bash scripting skills What languages/technologies are you currently using?
we are using Python and C# for testing and development
You said you are learning Python & C#. What are you currently using at work?
