12 YOE Started C#/internal services developer (4yr) Moved to Sr. DevOps / automation role (2yr) Moved to Lead Cloud/DevSecOps role (2yr) Moved to Cloud Infrastructure/Solutions Architect (4yr) Have diverse technical focus - mostly working with companies surrounding MS based stack and Azure (Expert), C#/sql/.netcore/powershell and really strong with cloud architecture patterns, security, data(sql, cosmosdb, datafactory, datawarehouse) & app platforms (paas, svc fabric,k8s) & bit of core services (networking, routing), a few ML/IOT/AI projects. Also have AWS, python, java, experience but less versed with it. Most of the gigs seem like the place to be is actually an individual contributor focused on a particular tech versus working towards architect/leadership roles with wide-ranging knowledge which I always felt was the best thing to do. My knowledge is wide and granted I have development experience I don't do this area on a daily basis anymore. I'm wondering what would be good career paths, posts here make it seem like I should step back and move towards a dev role... just not sure if it would be wise. Thoughts? #Cloud #azure #aws
Would it not be better to focus on getting to partnership at Deloitte? Million dollar salaries and wide leadership mandates which are hard to find in the industry? Why not focus on sales skills?
Work remote and don’t foresee it as a possibility with my current leadership
SA roles are not remote, most require extensive travel with little upside compared to equity comp levels at private consulting firms.
