It's clear the market is hot for full stack developers and I am curious about making the switch to take advantage of this job market. There are so many technologies out there it is hard to determine where to place my focus for preparing myself to switch from embedded C development to full stack. Has anyone made this transition before and have tips on being successful? My goal isn't to jump right into Meta or Google, but a jumping off point where I can begin to grow the relevant skills and expect a lower, but reasonable TC. #fullstack #embedded #careerchange #engineering #swe
I’m doing exactly this, moving to an enterprise non-tech. Went from embedded to backend.

I’ve done it. I would focus on learning JavaScript basics, and HTML/CSS basics, plus vanilla React. For the backend I would either use node or possibly another language you are already familiar with. However in my experience the most important thing is to just start building frontend SPAs to start getting experience. CSS in particular is a mess, I would skip to Flexbox and Grid first.

You can move to native apps or web apps, depending on what you want you could go and learn kotlin or javascript first Then you need to learn a framework like React or Vue or whatever Phones use, most backend developers struggle here if they can't wrap their heads around thinking of Components or MVC or MVVM A general complaint is that you probably change web frameworks more frequently than you change underwear, and it's true! But over the last 5 years the main concepts are still the same
