Subaru has good adaptive cruise control and pretty reasonable lane departure warning, but I wouldn't take my hands off the wheel.

While we're on the topic, what lane assist is supposed to be doing? Does it take over your steering for you or it's just one time type of thing meaning once you get off the lane, it'll correct it and warn you?
It nudges you over into your lane if you drift. But I imagine that if you took you hands off the wheel you might wind up in a head on collision or a ditch. It's an assist, not meant to take over driving. I never use it because it makes driving so boring that I stop paying attention, which is ungood. I do like lane departure warning because it has a real chance of waking me up if I ever do drift off on a late night drive. Not that this happens but I'm glad it's there just in case.

Mercedes C300. Combined with steering assist, driving in traffic is easy. Only issue I found is, if the vehicle ahead suddenly changes to next lane when traffic slows down you need to hard slam the brakes by taking control. Otherwise it does a very good job till 60-75mph.
Does it do a good job with bends on the road? I’ve heard general concerns where adaptive cruise reacts only once the car is in the turn - breaking seemingly too late. I’ve seen some tech starting to use maps to predict ideal speeds going into the turn.
For speeds less than 30mph, no problem at all for the smooth curves on road. As it tracks the white lines on both sides there won't be any problem in maneuvers. But at speeds gt 50 it's better to watch closely during these bends on road. It gives warning with enough time to react if we even passively engaged while driving. It's an aid but not replacement for driving. We need to keep that in mind. I believe most vehicles with adaptive cruise control are using radar and navigate based on distance. Image capture and processing will only help in making this turns smooth without any assistance from driver.
