Cashapp vs Figma
#datascience Trying to decide between Cashapp and Figma, both staff level data science. Cashapp is real money stock vs private RSUs with Figma. Figma stock is given at internal valuation of ~15bn, so growth potential is reduced, but still potential there. Current TC 350k
Thanks for sharing. Block seems to be the move given figmas valuation. Remote? $410k is a solid offer assuming analytics DS with less than 12 yoe. Is there no bonus? If so then TC is even higher and it would be a great offer What was the interview like? Did they test Python in the interview? Prob/Stats?
Both remote yes. No bonus for block. The first tech screen was a python interview, basic scripting and some data manipulation. No stats in the coding interview

It’s how they are pitching it to me, I don’t think it’s a formal valuation but it seems to be how they are structuring the offer
That Figma valuation seems bs. What is the price per unit? When I interviewed a few months ago it was 21$

Both 3 rounds, hiring manager, tech screen sql/python and onsite. Pretty vanilla case studies and then xfn chats. I just brushed up on experimentation, would be good to practice DS case studies if you have a friend you can do mocks with

Data sciences is a joke at Square (I can’t speak for Cash App). I would be very careful as you may find yourself to be a glorified business analyst. Many of our DS folks just do simple SQL queries all day and are not particularly strong technically.
The whole industry is like that. Some see it as an advantage because if you’re smart it’s easy to move up the ladder since competition is weak

Block. Figma equity is worthless since Adobe acquisition fell through. Product is nice but definitely not worth 20 B. Maybe 2-4B max Similar company which has great product in a different domain but is one trick pony is $ASAN Their market cap is also ~ $2-4B. They are B2B which consistent revenue. Figma penetrable market is quite low if they focus on B2C . Should try B2B SAAS subscription and sell it to companies so that designer could use it.
This guy is none sense, Figma’s entire business model is b2b subscription
