Centurylink big data/ cloud teams
Friend of mine is interviewing onsite in Bellevue for a role in this team? Any insights into what they do and how it’s doing for long term vision ? Any growth or negatives to be concerned about? He is applying for senior tech role in solution architecture.
CLink is shit. I went through their interview process and turned down the offer. They bought Level3 just to stay afloat. Everything they do is reactive, there's zero initiative to become a leader. Just a big sinking ship. I also have a few friends that work there. They say internal processes and function is absolutely horrid.
Thanks I am sure he will appreciate that but between this and being unemployed I think he will have to take the job if he gets it. Sigh!
CTL had a 10% layoff in their hosting group early this year and has yearly layoffs. They are not growing. They can't compete with other vendors. Their cloud is non-competitive. I know someone who worked there for several years. They had layoffs every year. Business was going out the door. Their team went from manager 3000 databases a few years ago to 450.
Be prepared for long hours and lots of headaches and red tape.
