When you are switching companies, can you be on the payroll of 2 companies say for 2 weeks? How will it show in background check etc? Say if I have an understanding with my manager and dont show up for last 2 weeks at company A, but start at company B. This could create an overlap.
When you’re applying for a future job and they check your employment dates, this will create some interesting questions...
When companies do a background check, do all employers show up by default or does the applicant provide a list and they look for that? Thanks
You’ll fill out an application, but there are plenty of data sources that the background check companies use. ADP, for example, is happy to sell your data off. Don’t mess around with that stuff - I’ve heard stories of offers rescinded for listing dates of employment off by just days.
I wonder anybody can answer correctly for this question. There are too many variables. It depends on the new company, visa situations, and how one interpret things. I would avoid such situations just to be on the safer side in future.
Interested in this. I have an overlap by 3 days and have been hired at 2 companies since. It’s never been brought up.
Are you on Visa? This most affects H1B people as we are not allowed to work for 2 companies at the same time. Don’t think it affects others
@batwomannn are you on visa?
Does the background check provide your job title as well?
No
Interested in this too. Is there any legal issue around this especially if you are not on H1B
