ChatGPT sharing data w/investors and media?

I know all the recent hype is making people want to test ChatGPT mindlessly w/o any thought on the information we provide it, but couple things in their privacy policy recently stood out. Importance of your PII 1. Signup requires your phone number. This shouldn't be required with email verification and they disallow VOIP numbers because physical numbers tied to a device are a more permanent way to identify you. This is not for "security reasons" as actual numbers have always been more valuable to data brokers, asshole group of tech billionaires behind a "nonprofit" AI company, etc. 2. Account deletion takes 2 weeks. Why? Because "some companies may want to keep the data for research, analytics or marketing purpose." -ChatGPT. 4. Will they delete your data after 2 weeks? ChatGPT actually directed me to a nonexistent "Data Retention" subheading in their Privacy Policy. After pointing this out, ChatGPT apologized and directed me (again) to their privacy policy and terms of service. Neither place mentions a retention policy. Under GDPR, personal data can be retained "for as long as data are required to achieve the purpose for which the information was collected." Additionally, exceptions can be made for scientific research like the current 'research release' GUYS!!! How GDPR changes the rules for research: https://iapp.org/news/a/how-gdpr-changes-the-rules-for-research/ 5. Site ignores "Do Not Track" signals. ------------------------- I'm also concerned w/ how they are allowed to use our Personal Information: HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION -To conduct research, which may remain internal or may be shared with third parties, published or made generally available; SHARING AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION In certain circumstances we may share your Personal Information with third parties without further notice to you, unless required by the law ---------------------------- What first drew my attention was the Business Insider article claiming that Amazon employees were using ChatGPT to complete all of their work yada yada... although the source appears to come from Slack, it made me realize: 1. OpenAI holds confidential company info + employee info and can legally share this with competitors, investors, and the media. 2. OpenAI can share company + employee info w/ the media to market their own hype and create the motion for replacing said roles. 3. Companies are too scared to respond or bring legitimacy to articles / leaks. 4. If intent is to reduce the need for jobs, OpenAI could share our info with our company. #amazon #openai #microsoft

These are brilliant observations. I've been forewarned. I can't resist using it though. It writes all my form letters and I am thinking of using it for most of my emails going forward (that's besides all the other things it does)
