My productivity was 2x with it. Now I have to go back to writing my own mind numbing boilerplate code. What benefits do management see to blocking it?
IP leakage
But people could already post code on stack overflow for help. How is this any different
New tech = scary, especially for security and compliance teams. Also I'm not sure that many people see the similarities between ChatGPT and stackoverflow. The latter is easy to think about as "public" whereas ChatGPT appears to be confidential. That said, nothing stops you from using it on a personal device, although it'll be a lot more annoying.
Maybe they don't want company code on chatgpt
It’s probably more of a legal/data leakage concern than anyone benefiting from road blocking you
Use chatGpt on your phone
Nah man use, I use a Google Chrome Plugin like https://www.joinmano.ai/. 1. They submit requests from their backend so there is no way for your company to know that ChatGPT is being called. 2. There don't keep an open tab. You open it with a shortcut so even if your manager looks at your screen they won't see a tab with an OpenAI logo. 3. There is no email sign in so nothing is record in your outlook.

Maybe they trust that you have better knowledge, but don't trust you to exercise it in the presence of the Gpt.
