I will admit that most of the time in the past, when I used google search, it was mainly to be productive by looking at many small solutions to fix big problems; It still involved understanding the solution and making it work.... i.e., a certain level of customization needed. I recently stopped using google search for this and purely using chatGPT. TBH, now, I get an exact solution without needing customization. I am finding that contextualization and providing direct answers to my ask is the most significant benefit. I feel tools or platforms like ChatGPT will make developers/programmers obsolete. What does the blind community think about it? #tech #chatgpt #productivity #google
Not obsolete. We will be spending our time with higher problems, not the details anymore.
The correctness of chatgpt is appalling. I'll be retiring in the next 5-10 years. It might get there at some point but I'm personally not worried.
This is the camp I'm in. The devil is in the details for our work - 80% is super easy. The last 20% is the hard part. When it can do that deterministically I'll freak. Look at Asian languages - automatic translation of them still sucks in many different ways. But also glad that I might be able to jump out of the rat race in 10 years too.
How old would you be in 10 years?
Programmers will be there even after platforms like ChatGPT takes over, but programmers will still be needed for integration and finalization of the development work. Programmers will go on to the next level and work on next level developments beyond the capabilities of ChatGPT.
With chatgpt, 1 or 2 devs can do the work of a team of 10 - 20 coders But after a few years of improvement - no coders required. Gpt systems will build and maintain software. Humans just need to speak a human language and have a bit of conscious creativity. Less and less work going forward. Just like ATMs replaced bank tellers, GPT replaced coders (and a lot of other knowledge workers)
And no ones are maintaining ATMs, and making sure cash is delivered, security, maintenance, building them, etc. For each efficiency gained, we release humans to work on something else.
Or become homeless.
Brother or Sister, worry about your engineering career and not existence of Google.
Google is essential for well-being of society for other good reasons, the post has nothing to do with google's existence or non-existence
Making the world a better place…by tracking everything users do to serve tailored ads for shit people don’t want. 🤪
I asked chatgpt, who won the world cup. It gave me results from 2018. So relevant.
For me, I have seen most success when you ask the "right question", not vague...
For the same question, it just said it’s knowledge is cut off at sept 2021 so it’s unable to answer the question.
Unfortunately, you have to get back to google for the real stuff Like p0rn
You.com has similar amazing chatbot
A sad bullshit joke
Come on, dude. I thought you created a command line tool that uses chatgpt to give you quick solutions to any questions. This post is such a letdown...

Everything seems great with this guy, except basic attraction. What to do? My friends say it’s no big deal
Not obsolete. Efficient first, obsolete maybe later.
