Seeing quite a few leadership roles open from associate director and above. Anyone know what Chewy is paying? Currently at amazon in retail, L6, TC $210.
Salary competitive. RSUs are pretty light - at least for pre-IPO employees.
Knowing Boston tech, this is like going to Staples east. Be careful to assess the culture.
I don't think chewy pays that much and nevertheless it won't pay as amazon
They will beat Amazon salary for the right person; they did for me as I am in Amazon and had an offer from Google.
it’s salary is not worth having to be in the culture , don’t do it , you’ll regret it .
Can you share more about what the culture is like?
Several have come and went to Wayfair. Culture is not for everyone and I personally think the team you would be supporting matters. As far salary for Director role, $230ish probably sounds about right.
One of my buddies (MBA 2020 grads) got into chewy as an operations manager with 100k base pay. I would say (just based on the cases I have heard) - Steer clear of Chewy!
They are just getting away because it’s a simple e-commerce website , the engineering practices are horrible and would not sustain in a slightly complicated system
I've heard it's a very easy stack. A lot of h1b and junior programmers. It's not a mature company at any point. Have friends there. It seems like it's team specific and the manager level does not understand the culture of tech work.
Yes I fail to u sweat and the team specific , it’s a top down type of culture , so really the CTOs culture is reflected in tech , which is old school
No idea no but a couple years ago they offered $220k, bonus, plus equity for a director of eng role, so it seems like it could be competitive.
That seems low for director of engineering. 😕
It was pre IPO and included million in paper money, but I have no idea what that would have actually been worth.
