so many children around the world are suffering from hunger, poverty, disease, abuse, neglect and so on. They shouldn’t go through all this when there are enough resources in the world. What are the different ways in which we can genuinely help n care for them? I am in bay area. no trolls pls. TC 205k
Thanks. Have u tried it yourself?
Yes. I have been a monthly contributor for years (at least 6+). I firmly believe in their approach and the results.
Find a good charity that invests in children’s lives through education and basic health care.
Does it help you sleep better at night if u help them?
Sincere question: do you need to feel any better for it to be worthy?
I sleep like a baby every night. But it aches my heart when I hear about innocent children suffering in various ways. And yes the POTUS is not making it easier for children at the border.
This one sends in former special forces to rescue kids from slavery and then rehabilitate them. I give monthly to this one also.
If you’re suffering from a irrational guilt you should get off your ass and go do something. Please don’t drag the rest of us down in your mental health issues
Dang...
Wow... douche
And that is a third one I give to. I know the founders of that one. They even list their low admin costs on their front page. Remarkable work
Remember to use this OP before you give to charity https://www.charitynavigator.org/ Don't want you giving to some equivalent of the Trump Foundation
Or worse, the Clinton foundation
Lol!! Dude nothing is worse than the Trump Foundation. See this !
I personally believe in Khan academy. I think that more educated world is more happy, collaborative and united world. You can give somebody a fish or teach them how to fish
I cannot say enough good things about charity navigator. Not only it gives direct ratings for various charities, It’s a great frame work, which helps in evaluating any foreign charities, should you use to evaluate any in the developing ... or build one of your own. That is what I did. While working here in US, I used the network of my classmates in developing world, and built a charity there... focused on orphan & poor kids education. My local classmates validate the need, and all of us pitch in to fund not only the education, but living expenses /food for the family member (grand ma, uncles who ever is taking care of the orphan), so that the poor kid does not end up in child labor (boys) or child marriage (typically girls). We are a small charity, financing 100 kids with our own salaries and don’t seek funding outside our group of classmates/friends. Find a great charity in US is easy through charity navigator. Or you can Try to find a grassroots charity in the developing world, like the one my group is running; engineers from the developing world, so they know abject poverty... funding /running it remotely, working in US.
