PM at Ping Identity, laid off today. The VC firm which owns Ping recently bought ForgeRock, and started laying off people this week. CEO emailed yesterday warning about the coming layoffs, and I was told today morning. Pretty unexpected TBH, because there was no indication about low performance, or anything else by my manager. Thinking of taking a break till Jan, since the roles would probably open up after the holidays. Also pretty frustrated - it seems that employees have little power over things. Just drink the coolaid of the company, and grin and bear it when they fuck you over. Posting from my earlier company account; surprised it’s still active. Update (Nov-9): It does seem like the layoffs are across the board: software (devs and managers), product, solutions architects, sales, documentation. After talking with some people I estimate 10-15% laid off, over 250 from Ping (not counting ForgeRock) #pm #product #software #layoffs
Sorry to hear that Op..take some time to gather yourself , do things that you couldn't do before for personal growth and then begin to apply. Things will work out soon !
Sorry to hear OP. I know someone good who got laid off from Ping. The great resignation seems so long ago.
Hello sorry to hear. If you don’t mind sharing the package ?
200K
Hey OP, I’m from ForgeRock, a lot of the guys I know of were laid off too, I’ve been interviewing and been planning to switch since the acquisition announcement anyways. Did they offer you severance?
They offered 4 weeks. This seems pretty low from what I have seen here at Blind. That too when they’re laying people off before the holidays. About the numbers, I have heard between 250 and 300 from Ping side, which makes it 10-15%.
Sorry you had to go through that this sucks big time, but I guess nature of PE firms. Was it just a just flat 4 weeks or was it based off of time. Like 1 week per year of working there?
I was also part of the layoffs. Was almost 25% of combined workforce. My team was 45%. Severance won’t even cover the rest of the year.
That's crazy numbers. Thoma Bravo acquiring two companies with similar capabilities and now we see the result of it. Ping and Forgerock, both had good culture and sad to see what's happening.
Fuck Thoma Bravo!
The layoff process for me was crazy. Less than 24 hour notice, they give you the call and cut all access in 1 min. Follow up process to tie up loose ends are also all over the place
Ping did a similar layoff like exactly a year ago too. Based on folks I talked to who were affected in that one it was similar. Severance under WARN levels and zero benefits (I.e. no healthcare given). Pretty ruthless, especially right before holidays. Good luck OP Also, to the WARN point, I think pings policy is to just ignore it and assume no one will sue. Hard to sue if you’re a low/mid level person and were just canned with basically no severance. Soulless policy from soulless leadership I guess
Sorry to hear. Of course no employee ever has any power unless they're part of some union. We are just an entry in a spreadsheet for any company. Start interviewing asap. Use this holiday period to prepare and possibly give some practice interviews. This way you'll be prepped and ready to go once things open up in Jan. Good luck!
