Evaluating offers from Apple, Dropbox, Uber. Currently SDE II Amazon. Any perspective and feedback appreciated. Thanks! No compensation numbers yet. May post later. ~3 YOE SDE II Looking for a position with more growth potential and interesting/impactful technical work. Currently bored at Amazon, a little tired of bad software/incredibly slow pace/low impact internal projects/very high volume of devops grunt work. The attrition rate is very high in my org and things are very slow. Feel I'm not growing. Compensation also seems a little below market so a bump would be nice as well. Looked around a bit internally but decided to explore external options before trying an internal move. Amazon - pros: stable, good pay, good work life balance on current team, good relationship with management - cons: low impact internal-facing projects, really slow, bad software, not learning/growing on current team, very high turnover in org, pay is lower than market from levels.fyi averages Apple - pros: stable business, possibly higher impact work and more learning opportunities, good impression of hiring manager and senior devs - cons: possibly boring work with bad dev tools. possibly slow and bureaucratic. hard to tell from interviews Dropbox - pros: people seem smart and nice. good culture. like the product. like the team vibe - cons: uncertain business outlook, work is on internal business functions and may be technically uninteresting/low impact, unclear growth potential Uber - pros: like the product. work seems interesting. team seems to be in dynamic part of business with lots of opportunities - cons: business uncertainty, possibly low morale and high attrition (hard to assess from interview), layoffs, layoffs, layoffs Really thankful to have a few options in this economy. Any perspective/feedback is much appreciated. Thanks again.

I'd go to Apple. What was the Dropbox interview like?
1 system design, 1 coding, 1 behavioral, 1 concurrency focused coding, 30 min closing chat with higher level manager
Thanks!
Apple or Dropbox depending on compensation
Repost after you have numbers
Will do
Without the numbers, this is pointless
Hard to say without numbers but I'd go with Apple What level in each?
"Level 2". Amazon L5. Uber L4. Dropbox IC2. Apple not sure actually.
A lot of fkng text but no numbers. GTFO
Fair enough!
Uber is underestimated. High potential (2,3x stock after profitable 2021) and low risk for eng at this point
Could also die with regulation, competition, and low demand.
What was the Uber interview process?
* 1 hour online coding challenge * 5 round virtual onsite. 2 coding rounds. 2 architecture. 1 behavioral
Make a poll, I’d vote Apple > Dropbox > Uber. Apple probably has the best combination of stability and growth as a company
Good point. Done thanks.
And TC, especially if it's AI/ML
