I have the following 2 offers - Cisco: Grade 10/Senior SDE - TC 272k, San Jose (Base 200, bonus 15%, rsus: (170k/4 yrs) Lyft: Sde2, TC 315k, Seattle (Base 175, 140/yr rsus + sign on) Current TC at MSFT: 174k, l62, 6 yoe, Redmond. Both the offers are a significant raise from my current TC with more interesting work, so I do want to go with one of them. 2 months earlier Lyft would have been an easy decision due to TC, reputation, learning, peers, culture, etc. I am on a visa though and the current macroeconomic conditions and stock has made me not so sure about Lyft due to layoff risk/profitability concerns. I reached on sites for senior SDE at Uber, Fb, Apple but didn’t clear those. Which one should I take? Please give reasons if you are polling. Thanks!
Cisco is a dead end, Lyft will look more prestigious on resume
How does Oracle compare to Cisco, from a resume perspective? I'm a Google layoff considering my next move.
I am at Oracle Cloud so it’s bit better than just oracle tho hopefully
Lyft anyday, avoid Cisco, - it has random restructuring and layoffs. - Raises are not guaranteed each year. - Refreshers are at the discretion of manager. I know folks who got 0 refresh as they weren't in good books of their manager.
Why is this even a question. Lyft. Better growth, culture. Likely much less corporate than Cisco.
Cisco for rest and vest
Lyft was hiring freeze right
still hiring certain backfills.
Ouch. All this Cisco hate. Do remember to not believe in broad generalizations and base your decisions on the offer and the group you are joining. In this case the cisco offer is great for G10 band.
Which team is this for in cisco ? Even though lyft offered a lower base, the rsu’s and sign-on are better in lyft. Go for lyft.
I think TC calculation for 4 years is BS.. you cant predict you ll be alive for next 4 years. I always look at max 2 years rsu vesting. I am more conservative and pick higher base anyday since it’s guaranteed.. and you’re in software you can switch easily
Although I cannot guarantee but Lyft going through pandemic meant that it already laidoff roles that aren't required. Add hiring freeze when other companies were hiring like crazy last year. Add attrition last 2 years with ppl that were frustrated by stock price. All these meant there's no more room for layoffs at lyft. On top of it, many companies are seeing their revenues go down now. Lyft/ Uber are seeing opposite bcoz of pandemic. As you are worried about layoffs possibility, there's very little chance of it unless something changes radically
Lyft for free rides
Not a thing
Sad
