Immediately, 4 weeks for paternal if I’m not mistaken
It’s immediate. For maternal, it is 6/8 weeks of disability + 13 weeks of bonding leave. If bonding leave is not taken right after disability leave period, you lose about 2 weeks of it.
But it's not really maternal/paternal at least for the after birth part. You can take 12/13 weeks of you're the primary care giver, regardless of gender.
You can take 13 weeks of paternal leave if you’re the “primary care giver” aka your spouse doesn’t work at Cisco too. But it has to be consecutive weeks. When we had our second, and was going through the process of getting paternity leave they asked if I wanted to take the full 13, I told them I don’t think I qualify and they said, “does your spouse work at Cisco too?” I told them no and they said “then you qualify.” OR you can take 4 weeks and take it a week at a time, whenever you want within the first 6 months of having the baby.
4 weeks of leave , have to take within a year of baby birth
Folks replied here don't understand the question. AFAIK maternity/paternity benefit starts only after completion of 1 year. But if the manager agrees it can be approved. Check with the HR helpline.
