Can anyone detail how performance rating happens at Cisco? Is there pip? How does stack ranking work? #tech #cisco
As with any large company, it will depend on the BU. This is solely my experience and could be different elsewhere in the company. There are PIPs at Cisco but you are unlikely to get PIP'd unless your manager really hates you because it's a difficult process to undergo. Also, there are layoffs all the time and it's easier to just cut you during a layoff. There is no stack ranking at Cisco because there are no company-mandated policies around overall performance evaluation, and because there is no mandated PIPing out of low performers. It's easier to just save them up for the next layoff and then cut the position.
I heard there is stack ranking at cisco. Please clarify.
Well, you heard wrong. Stack ranking is a very specific practice and Cisco as an entire organization doesn't do it. Maybe individual managers have used it, or individual business units. If that's the case all I can say is mine never has and it's not company-wide
I’ve been with Cisco for almost 2 years and haven’t heard about stack ranking or anyone getting fired due to bad performance
