Cisco vs Startups
Working at Cisco, located in the eastcoast (DC), grade 6 with base salary around 89k. This is pretty shitty to begin with because i have 5yoe and had excellent performance reviews every year. And I was told I would get a promotion in the upcoming month, but even with the promotion to grade 8, its gonna be 10-15% raise. Of course theres gonna be bonus and RSU, but i'm currently interviewing at multiple places(mostly start ups with 150+ employees) who are willing to pay 115k-122k base. In the long term, do you guys think it will be better to stay at Cisco or just go for the higher base salary and move on??
Try to move internally and get your promo to g8 during the transfer, don’t wait to get promoted first, you need to be in time in role and grade for 1 year to be eligible. Look outside in parallel and then take an informed decision.
