I feel like it’s a low offer, but they said it’s the highest they can go after negotiation. Open to referrals for MLE/MLR/DS roles lol Base: 200k | sign-on: 150k | bonus: 75k YOE: 0 in industry, would be leaving (non-stem) PhD to accept Edit: back office QR, no competing offers, Chicago office
Location? Did you have competing offers? Role? Quant research, swe, …? If Research what aaset class?
Updated the post, not profit facing so no asset class
Ok for what you are telling me your offer is “ok” not perfect but not bad. Back office + no competing offer (aka no leverage). Most people I know were returning interns and had competing offers so their offers (which you mostly read about) are therefore more inflated.
This does seem to be a bit of a low-ball offer. That being said, if you have no competing offers before the deadline I would personally take it. You have no years of experience in industry and their offer will give you a really good life. Especially in Chicago where cost of living and taxes is lower then in NY. Also the bonus listed is for first year only and you earn more in later years, or also you can always jump ship to another company in a bit with Citadel on your resume.
That’s where I’m leaning, I should have applied other places earlier to get other offers, ya live and learn I suppose.
Tbh don’t be sad. It’s a great offer you should be proud of what you achieved!! It’s your first job see it as a learning opportunity. To more you learn at citadel the more valuable you will be once you want to move!
425k first year TC and 275k TC for 0 YoE is a lowball? Bruh
Not sure what Citadel's deferred comp policy. They may not actually receive 425k in first year if the bonus has a deferred component. It is really important to consider the actual timeline of bonus's being received. Additionally, there are some people who have been able to negotiate "500k first-year TC" albeit taking into account that deferred bonus schedules mean they won't ever actually receive that in a single year. I think that 300-400k recurring is normal for new-grads with signing bonus about same as what OP is getting. The recurring bonus being deferred means that first year ends up being somewhat similar to other years.
@PueV17 do you have frontend engineer positions at HRT?
Wait how do you have a citadel account? Have you already accepted the offer??
Great offer for no experience. If you’re indispensable the next 2-4 years they’ll quadruple it. Citadel will pay where they are making $ due to employee hard work.
DM for opti, our 1st year TC will be about the same but our recurring/upside will probably be stronger than 275
I am not even a quant. Also with 0yoe but making more than you
Seems great to me for 0 YOE. $275 cash & and $150 upfront. Way above avg for most mle roles
Whats the average for mle these days
Back office QR? Is that treasury qr?
