So Citadel is moving to Miami. A bunch of other tech and financial companies have moved. Are the Bay Area and NYC toast? Miami - Tons of crypto startups - Founders Fund among VCs - Bunch of other hedge funds besides Citadel - JPMC Wealth Management - Low taxes, low visible crime
Violent crime is definitely higher in Miami.

Servers are inside the exchange, people can be anywhere
The servers are Colocated in the exchange data center. For example the exchange data center in chicago is actually out in the suburbs now. They would need some data center ops people but the traders and engineers could be anywhere.
If youโre making Citadel money, you can afford to send your kids to private school / live in gated communities. I agree though, South Florida is definitely a bad deal for families who are not making 400k+ and care about raising educated children.
