Cleared #pinterest onsite. Recruiter said they don’t have any hc now but it might open up next week. Then it’s going to be team matching; meeting with managers etc. Is this a done deal or is there still a chance of me not getting an offer? What is the probability of managers saying “I don’t like this guy find me a new one?” Haven’t worked for a company that does team matching before so not sure how it works. #swe
How long after on site did the recruiter follow up? For me the recruiter just straight up ghosted me and its been like 3 weeks now since my onsite
1 week
How was the interview?
Op, can I dm you?
Why
What role, OP?
Janitor
That’s why you didn’t hear back. You interviewed for the wrong role.
Hey Op! I got approved mid Jan for a Swe role. Team match is not as straightforward as your recruiter describes it to be. There are quite a lot of approved candidates in their pipeline that have been waiting for a while. They have very few open SWE headcount and managers are very picky because they get fresh candidates every Thursday. Your recruiters hand is also tied in this process.
Fuck my life. By approved you mean you are matched with a team and got the offer or are you still waiting? What do managers look for in the candidate? What happens if no manager wants you?
Approved means passed hiring committee for a SWE level. Currently, I am waiting on headcount and interested managers but no one knows when headcount is coming up. According to people I talked to that are in the Pinterest process, managers are looking for “strong” feedback in your onsite and relevant experience to their team’s work.
Did you get an offer yet?
Are you willing to share about system desing?
Are you l4 or l5?
It works like dating, your profile gets floated to managers with headcount, if they’re interested they’ll setup a call and you’ll talk about experience and what their team is doing and see if there’s a match etc. I went through it last year and didn’t have any troubles but might have just been lucky, I know there’s a lot of interviews going on rn and it’s competitive so tough to say if it’s a done deal or not.
Are you open for referrals?
