How do I prepare for GCA (General Cognitive Ability). I got 3 questions asked in 45 minutes. Obviously interviewer did not think I did justice. How can I prepare for it when redoing. Some samples at - https://www.reddit.com/r/interviews/comments/a140mk/google_interview_tips_general_cognitive_ability/ How do I answer for the question - If you were the chief traffic officer of New York City and someone asked you to reduce traffic gridlock, what would be your steps to solving this? Ask yourself, what causes grid lock
GCA is about how smart you are. You can't prep. There are no correct answers.
You are wrong. Preparation is everything.
When did Google start having GCA interviews, and for what roles? I had no such questions in my SWE interview loop 1 year ago that proceeded to an onsite. TBH I think I'd prefer such questions over LeetCode, based on the examples you gave.
Treat them like a case interview: https://ocs.yale.edu/get-prepared/preparing-case-interviews . Focus on presenting your thinking and assumptions clearly and make sure to watch for prompts from the interviewer (they’ll try to nudge you to the right answer)
Late post but I’m in the same boat. Cleared RRK, leadership, googlyness but not so good feedback on GCA. OP you got any advice about how to prepare?
How’d it go second time around on GCA
Do they really allow to retake the interview?
Have you got the job?
I didnt do very well in the GCA
