Cloud Kitchens / City Storage Systems is a newish company headed by Uber founder Travis Kalanick. Does anyone here work at Cloud Kitchens? What's it like? How is the engineering culture? How is the WLB? Are you generally super-pumped? I noticed that there are quite a few ex-Amazon managers there. Is there a PIP culture? They seem to have hired a lot of senior engineers. Is there enough work and ownership to go around? Is it more collaborative or cutthroat? Folks who have recently joined: any nasty surprises? TC: $0
Ah.... Travis Kalanick
why would anyone want to work with him
Recruiter wanted me to do a 10 hour take home. They said they pay as well as FAANG...if they have an exit strategy. I'm not doing a 10 hour assignment for what seemed like a real estate company for kitchens. I wouldn't bother with essentially the WeWork of Kitchens. For me, it was a hard pass.
Theyâre actually pulling a profit, unlike WeWork. Also, highly unlikely they said theyâd pay as well as FAANG, with an exit strategy. Unless they said near the level of a CTO @ FAANG. Imagine Staff lvl engineer who joined Uber in 2011 as top 100 engineerâ given those grants at the time, they were worth close to 18 mil at IPO. Thatâs more than Lyft and Pinterest CFO make.
There wonât be an IPO
OP, why donât you actually go talk to a recruiter or and engineer thatâs currently working there? Thereâs no point in speculation and doing your own research as there isnât much confirmed info via inter webs due to the stealth mode.
Does anyone have recent updates on this company? I got a interview call and Iâm wondering if itâs worth interviewing
The extent of my interaction with CSS is receiving a take home project from the recruiter. I did talk to a SWE who went there and they seemed to like it but honestly this was within the honeymoon period so I should probably follow up.
I got that 2 years ago as well and refused to do. They invited directly to onsite. Timing was not good and I just passed on it.
