What companies or career paths are suitable for an ex-SWE once you’ve accumulated a nest egg for retirement? I don’t mean completely slacking off, just lower stress roles with TC >60K. Edit to further clarify: <40h work weeks No on-call No up or out No forced attrition No politics No arbitrary deadlines No SCRUM
Goog at half time
University enterprise software groups. Great place for low stress, nice people, laid back work. Pay is okay.

I used to work in the federal government as a SWE. Pretty much covers what you’re looking for but comparable to amazon with the politics. Solutions Architect
Non-profit organizations
Everyone is super relaxed at SAP.
I feel like once you factor in the salary it’s still best to join an easy big tech company like ibm, intel, sap, google
Yea some of those get crapped on but the TC to wlb can be pretty good. I knew lots of folks working 3-4 hours a day tops at cisco
i feel like google is so different from say ibm which has high layoff/terminations, sap is chill and google can still be pretty demanding….
Cisco. You need to find right team
No scrum! I feel that is a none swe job
Anything federal government related
The politics in government jobs are comparable to amazon.
