https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/softbank-backed-cohesity-3-bln-deal-veritas-data-protection-unit-2024-02-08/ What is your opinion, or sentiments of people from both companies, or what the future holds to both companies etc? Please share.
How is the feeling/sentiments in Cohesity? Didn't Cohesity already have a SaaS based backup solution in place?
Sentiment is good here. We are preparing to welcome you guys onboarding.
Thought cohesity already has Saas and data protection solution?
I worked there prior … they’re still selling hardware … the SaaS solution is clunky and behind Rubrik … everything is “on the roadmap” and rushed to production
That's correct w777111 Cohesity saas data protection product is shallow and full of quality issues .none of the feature is complete. Poorly engineered.
Excited to be working with Veritas. Looking forward to working with them!
On the Veritas side we were told employees would be divided between the companies or let go. The new company sounds exciting. I’m in a cross-product support role so I hope to become a part of the new company. I don’t think the other company will have much of a future and will probably look for other jobs if I’m moved there. Veritas has many more employees than Cohesity, though, so I wonder how many of us will be moved over? I hope a majority of us will get to migrate over.
We hope so too. We look forward to working with you guys!
Duplicate roles like HR Finance IT will be eliminated
The sentiments are good. The newer bigger company would be much more competent in the market.
Provided Cohesity leadership handles the execution well and works as a partner with Veritas and its leadership team. Cohesity leadership has not been able to handle a small company, products are.full of quality issues, processes are immature - and now they are looking to take over a much bigger/better org that is known for its culture and brand.
Sanjay knows that he is taking a big step/org. And he may not able to digest this scale already, it seems. At least he himself is aware of. So He does not want non-enterprise products like BE which focuses on SMB market.... See his comments below to CRN. "The focus of Cohesity has been enterprise, and as we put the companies together we want to keep the focus on enterprise. We’ll get to midmarket later. If you take on more than you can digest, it’s a distraction. So from our enterprise focus, [Vertitas] NetBackup and Aptare and Alta are enterprise products. So that was the focus in the combination,’ Cohesity President and CEO Sanjay Poonen tells CRN."
Commvault trying to fish out while Veritas and Cohesity going through this long phase :-) Integration of products are not easy either. There is truth in commvaults comment though.
This is bound to happen. Just wait for rubrik marketing over this. They you scream get out of the mess come to rubrik
Sentiments are very low at Veritas and obviously. Feels let down by the Sr leadership who sold us off to a much smaller and immature competition. It's a jackpot for Cohesians and dismay for Veritas. People here do not believe they will have a good say in decision making or Cohesity will continue their products.
I was surprised to read how much smaller and lower ranked in Gartner Cohesity is. Usually the bigger fish eat the smaller ones and not the other way around. And growth was looking positive so it feels like leadership just gave up and wanted out.
Cohesity is not a low ranked company in the Gartner report. Your leadership wanted explosive growth and higher valuation therefore they gave up.
As far as veritas, few products appear to be going to Cohestity. (1) its highest revenue making flagship product ("netBackup") and (2) SaaS based backup solutions ("Alta" series products) Rest of the products (compliance, storage related products) might be with Veritas only. Combined revenue of these products are pretty less compared to what Cohesity acquired. So, we are left with peanuts and loss making products, it seems.
