Joining Coinbase as a new grad this summer, and currently trying to decide whether it's worth paying ~2k in rent to be closer to my team, or live with my parents for $0 rent and WFH (In a T1 city so still the same pay). Most of my team will be located in the bay area, so trying to decide. Appreciate any help, thank you! TC: ~190k #coinbase #swe
If you are desperate for friends and don’t think you’d make them where your parents live then maybe, otherwise save the money
Avoid bay area
Highly recommend working from office as a new grad. Learning from people around you and building relations is much easier when you can just walk to their desks and have a discussion.
Is saving an additional 24k/year really going to change your life? Nope. Additionally, consider that you will most likely be making considerably more more as you gain YOE. …also do you really want to be living with parents in your 20s? Live your life, be social, get an apartment.
