Had interview the other day for a Senior Frontend position at Coinbase. Honestly was the easiest interview I have experienced in my 10+ year career as Frontend dev. Surprisingly got a no. Only thing I could think of is that my solution was not elegant and that I am just going for completion and I communicated that as I was going. How high is the bar at Coinbase if they are trying to hire like crazy as the recruiter said #engineering #software #coinbase
Technical is only half the battle! Sorry it didn't work out. I know we are very short on backend engineers. FE slots are more competitive
Whats the other half? More on culture fit and behavior?
What’s the other half? The interviewer only did technical.
Some interview only to not hire. It is a way to keep themselves relevant in the market.
Clearly it wasn’t the easiest since you got a no lmao. I will say while your solution may have been technically correct if your communication is lacking or you don’t know your JS in depth, or you’re just an asshole, you won’t pass
Just want to post a update. The recruiter was nice enough to connect with me and provide me with some high level feedback. Communication and culture fit were a match, she mentioned it was technical that I got marked down on but no details. So I went back tried to remember. I had a small stumble with the state update of the react component which I resolved and my CSS was not 100% match to the mock. That’s the only thing I see which could be enough I guess to not proceed for the senior role and probably due to experience would not want to down grade.
Can I ping you? go through the same
Was it an at home assignment?
Done with screening round?
What questions they asked ?
It was to build a portion of Coinbase Pro UI.
