I just got an email rejection letter from Coinbase after my phone screen. I've definitely bombed some interviews in my time, but I was very surprised by this rejection as I thought I did well. I solved the coding problem with test cases/running code in about 30 minutes, then went into a brief scalability discussion with the interviewer, finally some typical Q&A. I'm trying to figure out why I got rejected: * There was a second problem I was supposed to get to but didn't. The interviewer didn't give any indication of this (but I also didn't ask). * The scalability section needed to be more concrete? I was mainly throwing out ideas but I didn't give concrete numbers for memory/servers/IO bandwidth/etc since we were just talking, not whiteboarding. * I used C++ and they didn't like the language choice. * Usual suspects: better candidates in queue, interviewer didn't like me, etc. TC $420k #coinbase
Same thing happened to me. I too coded the solution in C++ with working test cases and fixed a bug which which was more like returning error vs throwing exception.
Another reason might be they are about ipo, so pause hiring until ipo
which question did you get? The fs one?
It looks like they're giving that to everyone by looking at Glassdoor.
ok, got that too. It was really only the question and they moved forward after that. That means there's no second problem. They ask a bunch of follow ups on how to make it scale etc though.
On the same boat here, just got rejected this week from coinbase after i thought I did well. It was for a front end position though. Didnt get any specific feedback but my guess is the same as yours, their pipeline must be be full because of IPO plans, crypto being trendy etc... Did you ask recruiter for specific feedback?
Was this interview with Karat?
Exact same thing with me. Same question.. same interview pattern and got rejected. I thought I will go through. :(
Same here, really surprised!! Solved coding problem with all edge cases.
Same question, same feedback as everyone else. It seems they are cooling off hiring
Same q. Same experience
Same thing happened to me, but I used python. Thought the phone screen went well but rejection email. I passed some other Fang phone screens and even got to onsite, so I know I'm not horrible.
