I was recently approached by an internal recruiter at Coinbase - I'm currently a Contingent Worker at FB. After an initial call I was put through to a final round of interviews and given a Work Trial task: deliver a basic task, give a presentation on it and take questions from the team. I'm now waiting to hear about the outcome/ feedback and they have reached out to ask what my compensation expectations are. I hope this means I'm being considered and it's good news! Can anyone share how compensation is calculated? I saw that they have a policy of not negotiating and it's fixed by location. I've heard of other FB people moving to Coinbase so I hope it's a good package. Any info/ tips gratefully received!
They have a spreadsheet for compensation at each level and a multiplier based on your location. I asked about compensation on the initial call with the recruiter and she just asked where I lived, pulled up the sheet and told me the number. For senior t2 cost of living city they pay 373k.
373k is was told for Seattle as well
Thank you! I've applied for a role in Customer Experience as a Specialist / Lead - they said the key difference would be discussed after the Work Trial to see where I would fit best. Apparently Lead is a strategic role, Specialist is a team player. They are building a team for hypergrowth so hiring lots of people in the next year.
their comp sucks lol, IC4 comp was lower than my SDE1 comp. I would just use them for practice Kudos for them to be upfront about it but lack of negotiation sucks if the comp bar is low
afaik we don’t have IC2 for eng here :D our new grad comp is prob 50% higher than amazon
sorry, IC4, SDEII Comp was 210k for my area, my TC is already 200k as an SDE1
For me, they didn't kick off the interview process unless I agreed that their comp works for me.
OP the 373 number is for Eng, I think CX has a different range
Avoid CB — wlb is shit
What team are you on?
I’m interviewing at coinbase also. Head of security architecture. No idea where comp will land though I told my recruiter I need 1m total comp and it didn’t seem like a showstopper
Good luck with it! 👍
At staff (l6) they are very competitive (higher than Facebook's max offer, 30% higher than goog). Not sure why people think they pay badly. Or is it just at lower levels that they're not paying well.
At staff, they are $672. How is that higher than Facebook max?
OP, did you accept an offer from CB?
